Funding Assistance Options

There are numerous options available to families who are looking for assistance in helping pay for costs incurred to have their children play sports.  In all instances, we ask that you apply early to ensure the funds are available long before the season starts to help with administration and delays that can be involved.

Kidsport Saskatoon

  • KidSport Saskatoon reviews applications on a monthly basis. Application deadline is the end of each month.
  • Applications are due at least 30 days prior to the start date of the activity as it takes a month to process - apply early.
  • Funding per child per calendar year to a maximum of $500.
  • If you have any questions, you can also contact Kidsport by phone at 306-975-0818.
  • Recommended for hockey registration fees that applications are in by June 30th to avoid delays.


Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund

The Hockey Canada Foundation Assist Fund will launch for its 7th season on August 1st, 2026. Applicants can apply through the Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) through the Assist Fund Application page. 

As a reminder, to apply for an assist, the applicant must be registered with a Hockey Canada sanctioned Minor Hockey Association and it must be attached to their HCR account.

 Payment Process

  • All payments will be fully electronic.
  • Payment distribution date: November 13, 2026
  • If MHA payment info is not submitted by April 30, 2027, the payment will be void.
  • If funding is unused (e.g., participant withdraws or surplus remains), return funds via E-Transfer to:

How MHAs Can View Approved Participants in HCR

To view who in your MHA has been approved:

  1. Log in to HCR as an MHA
  2. Click Reports on the top navigation bar
  3. Select Funding Program Details from the dropdown
  4. Filter by season or program (e.g., Assist Fund 2026–27)
  5. Review the participant and request data
