Wild Sportsperson of the Year - Kael Gaudet, U18B

Coach excerpt from the nomination: I went to tryouts, and for the first time in my coaching career, there were players I did not recognize/ One of the players that stood out was Kael. He stood out for his size and his ability to control the puck. He went on to have a great tryout, and I saw a player who involved other players and was not looking for a hard rubout or hit. Kael is a very respectful player but also likes to win. If his shoulder is tapped to go out for a shift, he is eager and when asked to go sit at the end of the bench so others can get a few extra shifts he will do so without complaining. Kael is a true team player who gives his best at every practice and game. Kael is more than deserving of this recognition for his commitment to the Wild hockey zone, his accomplishments in academics at school, his ability to join a team of strangers and make them all feel comfortable. His accomplishments on the ice are great to watch but it’s your actions off the ice that are even more rewarding to watch.

Parent excerpt from nomination: Kael was voted as Captain of our team within week 1 of our team coming together. His peers knew immediately what a great leader he would become. Kael embodies everything it takes to be recognized as the Wild Zone Sportsman of the Year. He has been a player that his teammates can look up to and respect both on and off the ice. Often keeping a cool head in tense on ice situations and helping other players to remain calm as well. He is respectful to coaches, referees and his teammates. He is an excellent hockey player and his dedication and passion to the game of hockey is obvious to all. I fully support this nomination as Kael is an excellent representative of our Wild Zone and is an all-around respected hockey player.

There were so many testimonials to Kael’s sportsmanship that we could be here all night. Kael, you are deserving of this aware.  Great Job!
